Are COVID-19 vaccines safe? Yes!! They are also effective. 317 million doses have been given in the US and people are doing well. I got mine on December 9, 2020. Dr. Sara Majeed got hers on January 8, 2021. We both recommend you get one as soon as possible!! If you are fully vaccinated, relax and enjoy life.
What about all the reports about serious safety problems? There are two serious types of health problems that can occur after vaccination with J&J/Janssen COVID-19 vaccine. Personally, we have both studied Moderna and Pfizer the most, and recommend getting either one. I have Pfizer and Sara has Moderna.
What are the common side effects? Swelling, redness, and pain at the injection site. Fever. Headache. Tiredness. Muscle pain. Chills. Nausea. We had some of these. You can take Tylenol, but only if you have symptoms. If you are asymptomatic, don’t take it!! And do not pre-treat yourself with any medication before the vaccine!!
Pfizer is available for age 12 and up. Moderna is available for age 18 and up. Find COVID-19 vaccines near you on vaccines.gov.
